Frequently Asked Questions

What materials are used in creating Cotswold Flora’s Botanical Stag Head Designs?

Our Botanical Stag Heads are crafted using a combination of mainly homegrown and dried flowers and preserved moss, collected from the farm.

Do you ship your products abroad?

Currently we are UK Shipping only, however we would love to send products abroad in the future so watch this space!

How do I care for my Botanical Stag Head wall mount?

To ensure longevity, avoid hanging your Botanical Stag in direct sunlight or somewhere with high humidity. Gently dust with a soft brush or duster but take care around the flowers. Alternatively, a hair dryer on a low and cool setting is a good way to blow the cobwebs away and maintain its vibrant appearance. Each Stag is packaged with care and upkeep instructions.

Can your Botanical Stag Heads be customised with specific flower varieties or colour schemes?

Yes, we are happy to offer customisation, allowing you to choose specific flower varieties or colour schemes that align with your preferences. Do get in contact with us for any customisation queries.

Could you dry/preserve my Wedding flowers and make them into a Botanical Stag Head for my home?

Yes, if you are able to send us your wedding flowers asap after your wedding, we air dry them and incorporate them into your one-of-a-kind Botanical Stag Head. Please note due to the flower drying process, this unique Cotswold Flora creation will take 6-7 weeks for completion.

It’s a lovely way to incorporate your wedding florals into your home and cherish the memories of your special day! (P.S. The flowers don’t have to be from your bridal bouquet, they could be from surplus table flowers or other celebrations such as Christenings.)

What is the process of preserving moss and dried flowers for these art pieces?

Once the flowers have bloomed between June and October, they are harvested. The drying process involves hanging the blooms in our workshop for the air-drying process to take place. This process can take from 3-5 weeks.

The moss is collected, dyed and air dried.

Are the materials used in your pieces environmentally friendly and sustainable?

The moss, acorns, pinecones and teasels are collected from different parts of the farm on a rotational basis. These are all sustainably collected where they can be found in abundance to preserve ecosystems and maintain biodiversity. We only collect small amounts of everything, it is especially important with moss that we take no more than what we need for our projects.

For the past two years we have been growing both fresh flowers and flowers for drying in the orchard next to our workshop. Each year the flower growing patch grows and by trial and error we introduce different flower varieties to work out what thrives in our soil. Currently we use both our homegrown flowers and “bought in” flowers, trying to buy from as many British flower farmers as possible. However, each year we get closer to being fully reliant on our own sustainably grown flowers so fingers crossed for good weather and a good harvest this summer!

The Mounting Boards on our Botanical Stag Heads are made from recycled wood.

How do I hang and display a botanical stag head wall mount securely on my wall?

Each Botanical Stag Head includes a twine loop attached to the Wall Mount, all that is required is a hook, screw or nail to hang from.

Are there any considerations for placement, such as lighting or humidity levels, to ensure the preservation of the Botanical Stag Heads?

For best results, place your Botanical Stag Head in areas away from direct sunlight and excessive moisture, this will preserve the quality of the dried flowers and moss.

Can these Stags be safely shipped, and do they require any special handling or unpacking instructions?

Botanical stag head wall mounts can be safely shipped. The large stags are wired into the packaging boxes to secure them in place, protecting the delicate dried flowers in the antlers from being damaged. Carefully cut each wire to remove your Stag from its packaging.

As always please do let us know as soon as you receive your stags if the packaging has been tampered with or if there are any issues.

Can we see your work in person this year?

Yes! We are delighted to be at Handmade Oxford, The International Crafts Festival from 21-23 June 2024 at Waterperry Gardens, Oxford.

Alternatively you will be able to find our Stags in person at our stockists.
